Journal Printer

Print your Apple Journal as a book.

Journal Printer is an app for Mac and iPhone that turns the entries and photos in Apple’s Journal app into a printed, bound book, delivered to your door. It’s in development, Mac first with iPhone to follow. Leave your email and you’ll hear when yours is ready.

Where would you use it?

One email when the version you asked for is ready. No newsletter, and your address isn’t shared.

Sample left-hand page: a dated journal entry with a photo under its title, followed by the entry’s text. Sample right-hand page: an entry with a bulleted list, then an entry with two photos side by side.
Pages from a made-up sample journal, exactly as the app lays them out for print.

How it works

  1. Export from Journal. Apple’s Journal app can export all your entries, on Mac (File › Export) and on iPhone. Journal Printer walks you through it.
  2. Preview every page. Journal Printer lays out your entries, photos, places and workouts as a book, and shows you each page exactly as it will print. Pick a date range, a title, and softcover or hardcover.
  3. Order. Pay with Apple Pay. Your book is printed and shipped to you.

Your journal stays on your device

A journal is about the most private thing you own. The app reads your export and builds the whole book on your own Mac or iPhone. Your entries and photos are never uploaded for processing. The only thing that leaves your device is the finished print file, and only when you place an order, so the printer can print it.
